Course Overview
Developing Serverless Solutions on AWS is an intermediate-level course focused on designing, developing, securing, monitoring, scaling, and deploying serverless applications using AWS Lambda and other AWS serverless services. The course emphasizes event-driven application design and practical integration of AWS managed services.
Participants work with Amazon API Gateway, Amazon Cognito, AWS SAM, AWS CDK, Amazon EventBridge, Amazon SNS, Amazon SQS, Amazon Kinesis Data Streams, AWS Step Functions, Amazon CloudWatch, and AWS X-Ray. The course includes hands-on labs covering serverless application deployment, event-driven integration, workflow orchestration, observability, security, and CI/CD automation.
Course Objective
- Apply event-driven best practices to serverless application design using appropriate AWS services
- Identify challenges and trade-offs associated with transitioning to serverless development
- Build serverless applications by connecting AWS managed services and applying appropriate integration and error-handling patterns
- Compare infrastructure-as-code options including AWS CloudFormation, AWS Amplify, AWS SAM, and AWS CDK
- Apply best practices for developing AWS Lambda functions, including error handling, logging, layers, statelessness, idempotency, memory, and concurrency
- Implement observability and monitoring practices for serverless applications
- Apply security best practices to serverless applications
- Identify serverless scaling considerations and apply appropriate methods and tools
- Configure CI/CD workflows using AWS SAM, AWS CDK, and AWS developer tools
