Course Overview
Developing on AWS is an intermediate-level course for experienced developers who want to build, deploy, and troubleshoot cloud applications using AWS services programmatically. The course focuses on AWS Software Development Kits (AWS SDKs), AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI), IDEs, and the AWS Management Console.
Participants develop an end-to-end web application while working with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), Amazon S3, Amazon DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon Cognito, AWS Serverless Application Model (AWS SAM), Amazon CloudWatch, and AWS X-Ray. The course combines architectural discussions, demonstrations, code examples, and hands-on labs covering storage, databases, application logic, APIs, authentication, serverless and microservices architectures, deployment, DevOps practices, and application observability. The course remains aligned with AWS’s current classification of Developing on AWS as an intermediate, 3-day developer course.
Course Objective
- Build an end-to-end cloud application using AWS SDKs, AWS CLI, and IDEs
- Configure AWS IAM permissions to support a development environment
- Apply programming patterns for accessing AWS services using AWS SDKs and AWS CLI
- Perform CRUD operations on Amazon S3 and Amazon DynamoDB resources using AWS SDKs
- Develop and configure AWS Lambda functions with service integrations
- Design applications using microservices and serverless architectures
- Develop Amazon API Gateway components and integrate them with AWS services
- Implement user authentication and access control using Amazon Cognito
- Deploy serverless applications using AWS Serverless Application Model (AWS SAM)
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and debug applications using Amazon CloudWatch and AWS X-Ray
Pre-requisites
- AWS Technical Essentials
- Working knowledge of AWS core services
- Programming experience in Python, .NET, or Java
